As I will be your host trough the day, let me introduce myself.

My name is

Im a School Librarian and pedagogh here in Gothenburg, and now also projectleader for school libraries, in one part of the city of Gothenburg (including 9 public schools, 3500 pupils).
Im Chairman in School Library West, one of five regional associations for School Libraries in Sweden.
Im also member of the European stitching ENSIL, which stands for ( The European Network for School Libraries and Information Literacy). At last, Im also a member in the reference group for School Libraries at The Swedish National Agency for Education.
First up, some words about IFLA. Please, welcome, from IFLAs Standing Committee of the Section of School Libraries. Randi Lundvall
We have gathered here today, to spend a whole day around the field which, for many of us, occupies our whole lives working. And for several of us, much more than just a part of our daily jobs.
We are in the center of the second biggest city in Sweden, Gothenburg. This year as host for the mighty world conference IFLA. The reason for this conference, in the first place, is connected to the fact that IFLA itself offers less around the field of School libraries, than the needs itself. That became very clear for several of us, and especially Elisabeth, when visiting IFLA in Milano, Italy, last year.
Thats also the main reason for this specific conference, and the pointed out focus ”The future”.
Because there is a reason for us focusing on the future at this conference, something IFLA were thrilled about, when we presented the idea of this satellite program.
For more than two years now, a national serie with the theme ”The future of school library” has been touring around in Sweden. The School library associations in Sweden has been the driving force behind the serie.
The conference today marks, in many ways, the BIG final of that inspiring journey.
The shape for the serie is in some specific ways rather different to the traditional way of an ordinary lecture.
The dialougue has been central, an also a tool to brake the wall between the speaker and the audience.
To share and to learn from eachother, to problematize and to inspire, just as the relationship between the school librarian and the student. That has been very important for all of us, involved in the serie.
The question left to ask right now, before we start the conference is:
When does the future start? PAUS. Yes, tricky isn´t it :)
We say: Why not start right now. Right here... All together with a national and international perspective ponited out!
The Speakers of todays conference – They simply speak for themselves!
We have top national, as well as international knowledge summond here today.
We are very proud to present to you a program of pure worldclass!
Also, we have many countries represented here today, both when it comes to speakers and you as an audience. We know that people from: Usa, UK, Australia, Holland, Italy, Norway, Denmark, Finland and Sweden are in this room.
International? Indeed!
Now! Lets start the conference. First with the perspective on Sweden...
Please give us your comments on this talk in the commments under this part!
